Cyber security is a discipline that encompasses a vast body of knowledge and competencies. Aside from the basic knowledge outlined in technical skills participants should attempt to expand their knowledge in nine specifics domains of open source intelligence (OSINT) gathering, cryptography, password cracking, log analysis, network traffic analysis, forensics, web application exploitation, scanning, and enumeration. With a thorough understanding of each domain SoCal Cyber Cup participants will greatly increase their chances of success in both capture the flag competitions and their professional careers.
